Course Overview

Procurement work is half about products and half about people. This module covers internal stakeholders (marketing, finance, operations), external ones (suppliers, customers, regulators), and the communication techniques that keep them aligned. Includes basic conflict resolution and the team dynamics that make cross-functional procurement work.

What you'll learn

  • Map internal and external stakeholders and the influence each has on procurement outcomes
  • Apply demand and supply analysis to a procurement decision
  • Use appropriate communication techniques (written, verbal, electronic) for different stakeholder groups
  • Identify the sources of conflict in procurement work and choose an appropriate resolution approach

Syllabus & course details

Core module · 3 credits · Objective Response (OR) exam · 1-hour duration. The people side of procurement. You'll cover who the stakeholders of the procurement function are — internal (marketing, finance, HR, operations) and external (suppliers, customers, regulators) — the market forces that shape their behaviour, and the communication and conflict-resolution techniques that keep cross-functional procurement work moving.
